Mermaids!

At my last visit to my physical therapist I was given the green light to spend 20 to 30 minutes a day working on Art, sculpting, painting, etc. Twenty minutes is not a whole lot of time, but I knew I wanted to finish these ladies up first. I'd sculpted and inked these mermaids right before the pain kicked in from my back. The poor things just sat on my table the last few months waiting for me to heal. It took me a while, but I got them all painted, sealed and added their hardware. I originally intended for them to be pendants, but the more I look at them the more I realize they would also make great little ornaments. In fact I think I need to make one to hang from the rear view mirror in my car. I got them all listed in the last couple of days and wanted to show them to you. Click the images to be taken to the listings on Etsy. I wanted to price these at a lower point for the holidays so they could make an affordable gift. If you ever had a special request mermaid feel free to let me know.

Please keep an eye out here for a give away of my littlest mermaid pictured below. I wanted to do something to show how thankful I am that I have people that appreciate my art work and that when all is said and done I still have this wonderful outlet for expression...

I hate typing from my phone

I've started to write a blog post several times, but the longer I put it off the longer the story gets, so I'll just try to keep it short.

I have to apologize for being MIA for so long. On August 20th I began an adventure with the worst pain I have ever had in my life. Many Doctors appointments,ER visits, tests, and tears have ensued. The gist is this I have three herniated disks in my lumbar spine. The worst, which has been called "pretty impressive", is at L4 L5 and has seriously been impinging on the nerve causing pain all the way from my back to my foot on my left leg. For about a month the only thing I could do was lay on my stomach. I lost about 20 pounds during that time. Sitting was impossible. Where I am at now is that I can sit for short periods of time, but not in front of my computer or work table. I spend most of my time on my side watching tv. I am frustrated and bored! I try to get out every day and walk some to loosen everything up. I'm also in physical therapy now so I do those exercises. I am so full of drugs it's outrageous! On the 26th I am going to have a steroid epidural so hopefully that will help. If not the next step will be to talk about surgery. I hope I don't have to go there! Umm so that is the quick and dirty rundown. I'm sure at some point I'll be back to normal. Well as normal as I get.

Inspiration of the day-Pots

Every time I go to Home Depot I squee a little bit over this wall of colorful pots. I would love to have a bunch of these in every color all over my courtyard!

Inner Fire Sacred Hearts Listed

I spent the better part of today (I guess technically it would be yesterday, but I have not slept yet) photographing and listing six Inner Fire Sacred Heart Pendants on Night's Vision on Etsy. One thing I'm finding interesting with these pieces of sculptural jewelry is that each batch I make has it's own personality which seems to reflect the mood or level of wellness I'm feeling at the time. This batch turned out big and bold for the most part. As I've fought through quite a bit of pain this week it seems to make me more determined to put something big and bright out into the world.

Inspiration of the Day- Artichoke Blossom

I'm always fascinated with the world around me and find so much inspiration everywhere I go. A lot of the times it's natural things, sometimes completely unnatural. I like things that make me gasp at their beauty or crack up at their absurdity the best. I try to take at least one picture a day of something that made me laugh or smile. It makes me happy to be able to grab my phone at any time and find a record of what was in my world on any given day. I highly recommend it. You should try it. I think I'm going to try to post a couple of them a few times a week. I'd love it if you shared yours with me in comments! Or post it in your own journal and leave a link so we can all check each others inspiration out!

The last few years I grew spectacular gardens that gave me so many moments of joy. I have a ton of pictures from them and they always make me smile! This year there were so many different forces at play in my life that I was unable to plant a garden at all. We were lucky that our artichoke plant came back ten times greater than last year. I've been a bit lazy and busy the last few weeks so we let several artichokes stay on the plant. They just started blossoming and I tell you those blooms stopped me in my tracks. When I look at them I feel breathless they hold such a strange beauty. I'm happy I can share them with you.

New Listings

Yesterday I was lucky enough to get some energy and get off my butt! Ooops, actually I meant I was lucky enough to be at my mom's house and have some beautiful nature to use as a background for photographing my newest Night's Vision Poppet Pendants. Which led to giving me the opportunity to list these guys! I dropped off several at Charlotte's Web last week and the rest will be on the way to Air and Fire by Monday. So check out what's available at nightsvision.etsy.com . Click the picture to be taken to the listing.
